Dream Design - Living Room

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, West Elm's Mid-Century Modern Nightstand is a versatile piece - it would be equally at home in a living room or entryway, in addition to a bedroom. Below is the decidedly feminine living room I designed around the nightstand.

The Claridge Delight bird fabric was my jumping off point, with all its bright colours - I would use it for the drapes. A Crate & Barrel sofa would appear opposite a pair of Anthropologie chairs upholstered in black & white coral. The black & white chevron fabric would be used for throw pillows on the sofa, and the purple & grellow toile fabric for throw pillows on the chairs.

Flanking either side of the sofa are the inspiration nightstand and an industrial metal side table from Pottery Barn. Another industrial piece - a bookshelf - helps the metal side table to blend. I love a trunk as a coffee table and this one from Anthropologie is pretty much perfect (minus the exorbitant price). The Cleo table lamps have an antler feel - which also ties into the back of the chairs and the decorative antler on display. A striped rug and some fun art and accessories (e.g., vase, coasters, tray, and geode) help to finish the room.
