Dream Design - Bedroom

I recently had a wonderful visit with an old high school friend whom I haven't seen in years (Hi, N!). In addition to catching up, we also bonded over our mutual love of interior design - and I couldn't stop drooling over the new bedside table she picked up from West Elm (pictured below). The picture really does not do it justice; in person, it totally looks vintage, not at all reproduction.

I was inspired by how versatile this piece could be. Of course, it's beautiful in a bedroom, as intended - but it could also work as a side table in a living room, or in a small apartment as a console next to the front door. It's definitely a piece that could be switched up if your tastes change over time, which are the best pieces to invest in.

Here's the bedroom I created around the nightstand. As far as paint colours, I think either 'Coventry Gray' or 'Chantilly Lace' by Benjamin Moore would be gorgeous - depending on if you're a coloured wall enthusiast, like myself, or a white-wall purist, like my friend H.

I would use that gorgeous silver Ikat for drapes, the Alan Campbell yellow zigzag fabric to make a studded headboard (on my list of projects for the fall!), and the Covington red striped fabric to reupholster the cushion on the C&B chair (which is a piece of art in itself). The remaining fabrics (Premier Prints Ikat Dots, Coral, & Michelle) would be used for throw pillows.

The nightstand that inspired it all would be used on one side of the bed, with an industrial pedestal table from Anthro on the other. A gorgeous low dresser in grellow from CB2 would fit perfectly at the end of the bed. Although not included in the collage, I would choose all-white bedding for a hotel feel. A sisal rug, textured mirror and lamps, a few fun accessories (like a jewelry dish and a vintage tea tin for flowers), and art complete the look. And of course, for a dash of whimsy, a 'poison apple' to tie in the red fabric.
